Once upon a sailor...

in knitting •  7 years ago

One of my friends, from the knitting club where I go, told us she was to have her second child, a little boy. She is an extraordinary crocheter, but she does not knit. And so, I decided to knit something for this little boy to come. I wanted something both simple and stunning. Garter stitch was perfect!
I went on Ravelry in search of he perfect pattern, and here it was! I knitted a Playtime, by Lori Versaci in size 3 month, with some baby merino from Drops, a yarn both extra soft and machine washable. Found some blue buttons, and there it is!

This is so cute. I love the colour scheme, the blue and white, and the buttons are perfect.

Thank you very much! I got inspired by Donald Duck color scheme ;)

Haha! Excellent!

it turned out perfectly!

Thank you!

Very cute and beautiful. I like the A-line shape: Did you make it bottom up oder top-down?

Thanks! It's a top-down, and different versions are shown on the patern: with several stripes around the neck or using only one color. Directions are of course given in the pattern ;)

I one time made a A-line from bottom up, but I cannot estimate the height well - so I am always happy to find top-down pattern (Is this your pattern or is it on ravelry?). Till now I only made raglan top-downs, not sweater with a round yoke, but I want to try it out :-D

It's a pattern I bought on Ravelry. Just do a pattern search wih the word "playtime" in the search box.
Of course, I suppose you may find a similar pattern for free, but I didn't check...

This is a really darling sweater for a baby boy! It looks really soft and cozy. Thank you for sharing this week :)

Thank you! I usually only share finished items, I'm quite a fast knitter and crocheter ;)
My friend was very happy with the gift, I'm looking forward to seeing her son wearing it!

You’re welcome 😊

Well just a tip I have learned along the way of my Steemit journey, this plattform is really about community and sharing. People support others that contribute and build up others. It seems the posts that involve the ”How To’s” are the ones that really get great support here on Steemit ;) Either way we welcome you~

This little sweater is just beautiful, @saleyaknits! The blue border is stunning, and I love the garter stitch. Well done! Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!
