Maxi 77 "LISA ECHIDNA"

I bought this yellow boat for 1000 euros. Nice yacht! There is no motor and inside is completely empty as in the best sports traditions. Just sails and prayer instead of rescue equipment. This is not a joke, my wife and I sail on it a few thousand miles in the North Sea, the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Maxi 77 was created by the famous yachtsman Pelle Petterson in 1972. For its time it was quite a sporty design. Top rig, fin keel with bulb and some details of the underwater hull shape like those of the super modern sports yachts. At the same time, the lack of backstay was convenient for managing the yacht alone. In contrast to my previous yellow yachts created primarily for tack, Maxi 77 perfectly planing on a wave with broad reach.

The name of our yacht Lisa Echidna comes from two words because each of the crew members gave this boat part of its own essence.
Lisa is a Russian word for fox. Echidna is called a few funny creatures, one of them you can see on the photo.
The combination of these words in the Russian language gives an association of a fairy-tale character.

I told my wife that we will not go out to sea until we agree on how we will call the yellow boat. In fact, we created a monster because I felt that without this it would be difficult to survive on this washtub.

When we had a strong wind on tacks, there was no dry place inside the yacht. The Lisa Echidna deck was like a soft mattress because in some places the tree under the plastic layer was rotten. Walk on such a deck was not scary, but when storm wind is blow the headsail track to shook the deck as the last time.
Getting to know this yacht almost ended in a fire. The old kerosene stove caught fire and since then there was black soot on the ceiling above the galley. Also we very quickly lost a single anchor because the old rope was torn in the first anchorage.

And yet, despite this, Lisa Echidna reached the Canary Islands where she was abandoned by us to the mercy of fate. People say she crashed against the rocks.
I'm sorry...
When we were anchored under the volcano Montaña Roha , then this moment was the most happy in my life. I took out the windsurfing which has a separate berth on the yacht that to learn my first freestyle element which call "Vulkan"

CREW

We are just dudes who do not like to be bored and we have solutions. Let's sailing around the world with us.

Our captain Akela is poorly adapted to life on the shore, but has enough experience to drown some kind of boat. He have a skill of 10.000 miles and twice sailing around Europe.

The wife of Captain Sonia Medusa often suffers from seasickness, but she is a wonderful artist and a yoga teacher. She also has several thousand miles of sea experience as a jellyfish.

Our boy, was only conceived in the ocean, but perhaps he still has to sniff the salty wind.

WE WILL PRESENT THE BOOK ABOUT OUR ADVENTURES SOON

Lovely writing! its a shame that this boat was lost... but for 1000 euros i think she served her value, and gave you beautiful memories.
