Like I’m going to tell at the beginning of the video: I've been avoiding the topic “bimini” for quite some time now.
There are two main reasons for this:
1: clever made biminis are really expensive
2: there is very little information on the net about the set-up of a bimini on a Dufour 4800
Due to the backstay (which is attached in the middle of the ship) and the main sheet (which runs directly behind the sprayhood), the bimini must fit quite exactly. Furthermore, the sprayhood of my Dufour is very low-ceilinged . That's kind of practical because I can just look over it while steering and the ship looks nice from the side.
If the bimini would have the same height as the sprayhood, the standing height would be about 1.40m. That is even for Claudi a bit too low ;)
So after a lot of measuring and thinking I bought a bimini, which turned out to be perfect in width, but much too long - around 70 . . 80cm too long.
So we temporarily set it up on the ship and shortened it to 1,95m standing height (which was before about 2,30m). In addition, many considerations as to how the material could best be adapted to the ship.

Be that as it may: I don't want to write so much about how we did the adjustments to the fabric, because this is described quite precisely in the video.
This is part 1 of (probably) 3. Part 2 will be only a short video about how to pack it and part 3 will be about the actual installation at the ship.
