Know Filipino Practices: Pasalubong

in knowfilipino •  4 years ago

Hi, people of Steemit!

Today, I want to reboot my Know Filipino posts where I would usually share things that are Filipino, like food practices, tradition, and a whole lot more about our culture as a people.

I want to talk about pasalubong. I am not sure if other cultures have it but it is something I love about being Filipino so I want to talk about it and let others know of such a practice. Pasalubong means bringing home something for your family at the end of the day when you get home from work or when you've been away on a travel. Bringing pasalubong is one of my treasured memories with my daughter when she was young and until today. I still make sure I buy my daughter a pasalubong even now that she is a teen. She would send me a chat message at noon time when I am away, especially when I am in the big city. She would tell me what to bring for pasalubong. Today, she wanted me to bring her palabok, it's a Filipino noodle dish you can buy from Filipino restaurants and fastfood. Palabok has a really tasty and thick sauce and the noodles is the clear glass rice noodles.

See pictures below. All images are taken by my daughter. It is one of her favorite snacks.
