Floating solar panels :
Floating solar panel are the solar power plants on water, These panels are built on lakes, rivers, ponds and on open oceans. These are used as Renewable source of energy which convert sunlight into electricity. Floating Solar panels actually work better than their counterparts on land because they get cooled on water.
Solar panels shade the water they float on and reduce evaporation by up to 70% .For instance,If a 3 acre water storage pond is covered with solar panels, 4 million gallons of water could potentially be saved from evaporating every year.
When it comes to power generation, one square acre of floating solar panels is capable of generating 500,000 KWh. Japan have the largest solar power system in the world.Located at kyocera the massive solar panel farm is comprised of over 9,000 panels and it generates 2,680 MW of energy every year.
In India,The 500 kWp solar plant is built by Kerala state electricity board (KSEB) that floats on 1.25 acres of water surface of the reservoir. The solar plant has 1,938 solar panels and the cost of plant set up by KSEB is Rs 9.25 crore.
Many countries like America, China, Japan, India, South Korea, UK, France and other countries are investing on this technology.
