JAIPUR: A three-day festival of films on the life of Mother Teresa of will be held in city schools starting December 5. The Catholic Church is partnering with a private organization to take these films to 100 cities across the country. The festival began in Kolkata on August 26 this year, the anniversary of Mother Teresa's birth. The founder of the Missionaries of Charity was declared a saint by Pope Francis in the Vatican in September this year.

"The aim of the festival is to spread the word about the work of Mother Teresa among youths and children and encourage them to take up work for the poor and the weak. This would be one way of paying tribute to Mother Teresa, also known as the Saint of the Gutter," said Reverend Father Norbert, coordinator the festival in Rajasthan.
The festival has travelled to Kerala, the states of the North East, Madhya Pradesh and even to the national capital. In Rajasthan, the films have played to audiences of children in Udaipur and Jodhpur already.

Among the films to be screened is 'Mother Teresa and Me' the story of the polio-afflicted filmmaker Gautam Lewis, who was taken care of by the Missionaries of Charity in his early childhood. As a seven year old, he was adopted by arms control expert Patricia Lewis who volunteered with the Missionaries of Charity while a PhD scholar. He is now a qualified pilot who trains people with disabilities to fly.
