Beauty Of 4 Face Buddha Statues of Baekjae Dynasty

in korea •  6 years ago

There is the only one 4 faced Buddhist statue left in Korea.
Even though the faces and the hands were destroyed, I could see the real beauty of Baekjae dynasty.

The front was Shakamuni Buddha

Searching for internet, I noticed that the faces of this statue were being protected in the museum.

It seemed that this statue had been made more than 1400 years ago. Regardless of such a long time, the expressions of the statue were so delicate. Especially the clothes were so wonderful.

There were 4 Buddha statues in one stone.
The Buddhas were Shaka, Amitabha, Maitreya and the Bodhisattva of the medicine.

I' d like to compare 4 face statue of Shilla dynasty which had existed at same period in southern part of Korean peninsula. I believe this work will help me to understand the characteristics of the ancient culture in Korea.

Very detailed photography sir. Lord Buddha is the symbol of peace and I very much like his journey. I am from India, the neighbour country of Nepal where Lord Buddha was born. Do you know that he brought up in shakya, capital of Kapilvastu which is prestenly names as Piprahwa, India. Very much like your photography and I aslo do photography posts on steemit.

@slowwalker, I'm pretty interesting to see four face Buddha statues of Baekjae Dynasty. But especially Shakamuni Buddha statue perfect seems coz cloths carved there awesomely. But I can't get better idea comparing with 4 face statues with 4 face statue of Shilla dynasty. But I think you can find better explain it. There had long history. Thank to very perfect captures.

Delightful statues. They all look very beautiful !!! I can not believe that their age is about 1400 years. For me, this is an incredible figure.

This one is stunning, fill of history and story!

In my country there are many Buddha temples. Specially, in the southern part of the country. I visited many Buddha temples. In below picture my daughter was standing in front of Buddha temple at Rangamati.

All the pictures you have provided here are really informative. I can learn many things from your posts. Thanks for sharing.

It's been too long since I took a virtual trip to Korea through one of your evocative posts, @slowwalker. Thank you for the insight into this magnificent Buddha statue. I find it deeply saddening that the statue had to be defaced - literally - in order to protect the faces in a museum....

This is a great place. You feel the spirit of Buddha ❤ I wonder how old this statue is.
Somehow sad to see it in this condition. I like the angle. Nice shot.

very good

Awesome Buddha statues. Resteemed.

Maybe your photography best but keep in mind don't worship him because God is one and we all should to worship him. Thanks for your time

That stone statue looks really old, it is a pity we can't see them as a whole, at the Shakamuni Buddha on the background stone there is a red color, is it something that happen later or was it anything that suppose to be from beginning? I am glad to hear that the face of the statue is in museum. You are lucky to be able to see it in reality, I wonder how good the face features were preserved, it is a lot of time since the statue was built :)

Amazingly beautiful! like the detail that has been captured in all these images. Nice work.

Wow.... Excellent post

I like it your photography my friend

The details of the doubles of the clothes are incredible, but why do not they have a face?
