Relief on the Rock in Mireukseonwon TemplesteemCreated with Sketch.

In this post, I’ll take a closer look at the rock engraved with the Buddha.
Buddha’s body was carved on the rock, whereas there was a separate head statue of the Buddha.

Usually, there are three Buddha statues in Deawungjeon ( specific temple which worship the Buddha statue ).

Among the three of them, the middle one is the most important and powerful Buddha.
On both sides of it, there are Bodhisattva and another Buddha.

Two Bodhisattvas were engraved on this rock.
One of them looked clearly, but the other one was left only half of it.
The edge of the rock was destroyed.

I guessed this rock was moved from somewhere else.
It seemed like that it was destroyed in the process of moving it.

The lower part of the Bodhisattva was also destroyed.
I couldn’t clarify what kind of Bodhisattvas it was, but its face looked like Bodhisattva of great compassion

This bodhisattva is called Avalokitesvara in Sanskrit.
She cares for the poor with endless mercy and tolerance.

Also, there was the other rock engraved with Shakyamuni Buddha sitting on louts.

Although the complete figure was not engraved, I could see the hand and foot clearly.

It was a rare case that the foot or hand of Buddha was carved.

@slowwalker, After the closer look of carved Buddha's body on the stone, my eyes more amazed. Another three golden color Buddhas placed in Deawungjeon. Some parts of Bodhisattva stone destroyed. But we are lucky to see some parts of there. Because that is very important heritages to us.However your explanation better for take serious idea about photo clicks.

Agree with you! It is so lucky that there is a remainder of stone though half of it is destroyed.

The art engraved on the stone is rarely seen, but there are some ancient places where so much art can be seen, but now it is time to collect these art pieces, because they are becoming extinct day by day.!

You're right! We should preserve them well!

Yes, day by day, the history of our world is erasing.

It is, indeed!

The foot and hand of Buddha carved on the rock are really clear.
It's amazing~.

Right! It must have been very difficult work!

Excellent post I always enjoy checking out what you have shared 👍🏾

Thank you for taking close up pictures, I like the colors of stones that probably due to weather and the minerals in them changing color to yellow orange. The hand is really good made but I think it was probably tricky to do a foot :)

Pretty cool engravings there, thanks for telling a bit more about the rocks and the Buddha statues. Maybe you can start posting these travel posts via travelfeed dapp as well so travelers can check these places out 🙂
