KF 101(Korean food Intro)-5 “Galbi-jjim”

 Hello!

This time I will introduce you about Galbi-jjim. Jjim is already mentioned in dumpling post. It is steamed Galbi. Then what is Galbi? It is rib part. But typically for Galbi Jjim (갈비찜)we use beef rib.
Galbi is amazing for grill and BBQ, maybe one day I will make a special post about all about Korean BBQ hehe. We eat more than 30 parts of beef. Even sirloin consists of many part and many small parts of beef is amazing part. And we name it as in the way it looks or shapes. Especially, since some parts can be made only small amount it is very expensive.

Oh.. I went to far away from Galbi jjim. Sorry hehe. Okay so let’s first take a look!Hehehehe.

Ah… i wanna eat it. The thing is that this food is mainly for national holiday like Luna new year or Thanks giving day. We call them Seol-nal and chu-seok. Or some kinda family event like marriage.

So i have not eaten much even in Korea. Why so? It is very time consuming to make. Also requires quite a lot of effort. Especially you need to take care of rib very well and marinate it and boil it.
Of course you dont need to standby near it all the time, overall it takes about 14 hours. Yeah… so it is not good to ask someone ‘can you make me galbi-jjim?’
Hehehehe they might delete your contact.  just kidding hehe. But for the happiness for people, just go for the restaurant hehe. And if someone makes this food for you, i am sure they love you so much or want to impress you.

People usually put carrot, potato, mushroom, onion, green onion, chili pepper, radish.
And for marinating? Hm I am not so sure…. but it tastes like ground garlic, honey or sugar or sugared plum, green onion, soy sauce and tiny bit of ginger.It is considered very precious food in Korea, hope you can try one day.Next time! I will go back to bit casual and post the ‘Naeng-myeon’ which is cold noodle in Korean. In this summer people are crazy for the food!
