K-Boppin' Freaky Fridays: Full Moon by Sunmi

in kpop •  7 years ago

It's finally Friday! Time to get our Freak on!

I've been feeling the more chill pop-ie tracks this week which lead me to this week's Freaky Friday choice with Sunmi, check it out!

Sunmi (선미) - Full Moon (보름달)

Genre: Jazzy Pop

Full Moon was the second solo release by Sunmi under JYP. Sunmi's solo career took all of the K-Pop world by surprise as at the time there wasn't a lot of female solos and none as captivating as Sunmi. Sunmi was the quirky girl of Wonder Girls but left to focus on her studies, so this comeback was not only shocking but proved to be a very smart venture, Sunmi is just one of those performer you can't take you eyes off of.

The musical elements are blended together to create a sensual sound of Sunmi the vampire seducing you into her song. I love her gray and white feathered outfit during the dance portions as it accentuates Sunmi very well. I didn't know if 'Jazzy' pop was the right way to sort of categorize this song, it has a strong use of saxophone that is used in a very chill vibe versus a very energetic song.

Hope you enjoy this!

And of course, I will be posting about BTS's Fake Love and new album later on. Look out for it!

Listen to K-Pop and 🐝 happy!
