Does Taiwan not want Korean unification?

March of this year, Xi Jinping will visit Korea.

The relationship between South Korea and China has worsened because the US deployed Sadd missiles in Korea. Xi Jinping will come to make a good relationship with Korea.

This is because Korea is an essential trade partner for China, which is engaged in economic war with the United States. China is most wary of Korea's military alliance with Japan.

If Japan's strong naval forces are stationed in Korea, Beijing and Tianjin adjacent to the Yellow Sea will be threatened.

Koreans are very angry at the fact that South Korea, which has become a western developed country, is ignored by the less developed country, China. Xi Jinping will come to Korea to appease the wounded pride and anger of the Korean people.

By the way, Taiwanese see Xi Jinping's visit to Korea very uncomfortable.

South Korea and Taiwan had formed an anti-communist alliance since China was communist. So, Taiwanese recognized Korea as blood alliance.

However, when Korea established diplomatic relations with China in 1992, Taiwanese felt betrayed by Korea.

China now claims Taiwan as part of China, but Taiwanese oppose it. The results of the Taiwan presidential election also appeared well.

When the United States gives up on Taiwan, Taiwan cooperates with Japan. It aims to maintain Taiwan's independence with the help of Japan to confront China.

Koreans hate Japanese colonial rule, but Taiwanese believe Japanese colonial rule is better than China.

As a result, Taiwanese have a strong tendency to yearn for the Japanese empire.

This situation in which China prefers Korea more than Taiwan has caused anti-Korean sentiment to Taiwanese.

And most of all, Taiwan is afraid of Korea's reunification.

Taiwanese writes suggest that if China loses the US confrontation, North Korea will collapse.

If China gives up on North Korea, it will enter the US by itself. China will then demand the United States to reward Taiwan.

It would be much more profitable to give Taiwan to China as the US occupies the entire Korean peninsula.

Taiwanese feel anxiety and fear that the US may give Taiwan to China instead of having North Korea.

I think Taiwan's worry and anxiety is unfounded. China cannot give up on North Korea, and the United States and Japan cannot give Taiwan to China.

If China has Taiwan, the US and Japan will never allow it, because the Chinese navy can freely travel to the Pacific.

After all, the future will be determined only after the collapse of North Korea, so Taiwan's anxiety and fear are unfounded.

This issue is complicated.
In reality, I'd say they probably would like to see Korea reunited.
But...
Think about Taiwan's situation. The entire reason China claims to support Korean reunification is because that would give them a model (supposedly) for reabsorbing Taiwan. Taiwan knows this is China's game, so they are kind of stuck saying "If China supports reunification of Korea because they plan to re-absorb us, then we have to oppose it for the same reason."
Hence, Taiwan will always be opposed (at least on paper) to Korean unification.
They aren't really, but their situation requires them to look like they are.

That's right.
