가시연꽃은 이름 그대로 연꽃에 가시가 돋아 있습니다
가시연,개연,철남성이라고도 부르는데요
요즘은 멸종 2급이라 보기도 어렵다고 하네요
가시연꽃은 100년에 한번 핀다고 하여 그 꽃의 꽃말이
"청정,순결,그대에게 행운을"이라고합니다
연꽃으로 유명한 곳은 전국 유명한 습지에 다 있지만 요즘은
많이들 사라졌다고 해 안타까움을 금 할수 없답니다

옛날 아주 오랜 옛날에 많은 사람들에게
못된 짓을 하는 뱀이 있었습니다
부처님께서는 이 뱀을 물밖으로 나오지 못하게 가시 연꽃을
지키도록 했습니다
뱀은 할수없이 물속에서 매일 가시 연꽃을 지키고 있었습니다
그러나 악마는 그 뱀을 유혹하였습니다
"가시연꽃을 먹어 버려라 뭐하러 그꽃을 지키냐",그 꽃을 먹으면
너도 부처님처럼 될수 있다고 유혹을 한거죠
이것을 알아차린 부처님은 가시연꽃에 가시를 심었습니다
뱀은 악마의 유혹대로 가시연꽃을 먹었습니다
그러나 가시연꽃의 가시에 찔려 넘기지 못했고 뱀은 끝내 면죄부를
얻지 못하고 아직도 빛을 피해 어둠에서 살게 되었다는 전설입니다

한방에서는 가시연꽃의 씨앗을 가루를 내어 복용하거나
음식의 재료로 사용했다고합니다
특히 설사에 아주 특효가 있으며 허리가 아프거나 무릅관절,눈,귀에
효능이 있다고합니다
몸에 열이 많고 맥박이 강하게 뛰는 사람,소변을 붉게 나오는 사람은
복용하지 않는것이 좋다고합니다
백년에 한번 핀다니 못보고 갈수도 있겠군요~
