Exactly one month after Valentine's Day many East Asian countries celebrate White Day. It started in Japan as the answer day to the gifts men received from Valentine's Day. It was time to pay back by buying some white chocolate or another gift a month later. Today it doesn't have to be a white gift, just anything to remember someone who was kind to you on Valentine's day.
In South Korea stores are lined up with candies for people to buy for White Day. South Korea also has another cool tradition of Black day. This is the day people who had no gifts from Valentine's Day or White Day go alone to a noodle place and eat Jjajamyeon. This may seem depressing, but it's not so bad.
I think this song "Savage Love" by BTS puts White Day in perspective... A commercial holiday and a savage tradition... SICK.
