Indian Agori Sadhus who eat corpses
Agori or Agor is a community living in India along the river Ganga and near the city of Varanasi.
They can also be seen near the crematoriums in Nepal and along the river Ganganam.
These people who grow hair and beards and wear necklaces made from human bones smeared with ashes are known as a part of Hina caste. Some people call them sadhus.
They have no place in Indian society. It is correct to say that they have been expelled from society.
Their belief system is simply seeking healing in the hereafter. They are deeply devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali.
Their belief is that this god resides in graveyards and burial grounds.
They remove the dead bodies that are dumped in the river Ganges and remove the parts from the bodies. They use human skulls to drink water and make necklaces from human teeth, fingers etc.
Researchers say that their culture is very mysterious. Indian people believe that they have various poisons and yantra magic. They also believe that Agori sadhus can curse certain people.
Some of the Agori sadhus are naked and some are dressed in a simple saree. They often use ganja and often take an intoxicated form.
But there are real Agori Sadhus and Higannans disguised as them in Varanasi.
There are also women in this caste and one of their anti-social behavior is having sex in public.
It is their custom to have sex in public while holding a dead woman in front of her and playing drums.
Once Polish photographer Jan Skwara explores them for The Sun. In his report he states:
"They use the heads of corpses to drink water, they eat the flesh of dead corpses, they feed on animals, they are a wonderful people".
Eating parts of dead bodies followed by meditation is considered part of their rites. Feared by many, ostracized and living among the dead, these simple people represent the most extreme lifestyles to be found anywhere on Earth.
