Born in Galle Akmeemana, Sena Akmeemana worked as a school teacher in his early days. He became a student teacher at the age of seventeen and got a job in a rural school in Badulla area.

The principal, his wife and I were the teachers in the school. When all the children come, the principal takes the children and goes to his farm work. His wife is going to cook. I came to Colombo from Badulla without telling home. At that time, several of our relatives were doing business in Colombo. They are fertile.
"I did business after coming to Colombo. They took knives and scissors from the bazaar and sold them. There was a feeling that something should be done for those who trade on the footpath of the fort. That is how Ratnaweera started the All Ceylon Peddlers Association together with Comrade. When a group of pilgrims from the South came to Anuradhapura, they brought a Bo plant in a cardboard box. That group has come to the fort by train. That night they had tea at a small hopper shop.
While they went to drink tea, the rickshaw pullers picked up the cardboard box and hid it in the forest. Those people have gone where they didn't find it. However, when the rickshaw pullers opened the box later, they found the Bo plant. They stood it by the stream. Over time, the plant grew. The rice farmers have built a bamboo fence around it. It is the Bodhi that grew up and is now working receiving rewards from the people of the country.
