It's no secret that Bruce Lee trained hard. With extreme difficulty, he trained his body to such a frenzied level that he had a habit of hitting gravel and trees repeatedly to harden his hands and increase the density of his finger bones and knuckles.
'Bruce Lee never rested, even when he was at rest - he was a master of multitasking, using grippers to increase grip strength and forearm power, for example, when watching football or the news with friends. In the family, he carelessly holds and lifts weights with his hands.
He used to cycle everywhere, or run errands. He was almost perpetually in motion. It was truly a sight to behold. Is it healthy? I'm not so sure. At times his body was in great pain, and he never rested. Rest, healing, those things made him smile. He will rest in his grave, Lee will be proud. He slept with one eye open like a cowboy, new exercises, new routines and regimens always on his mind to improve his powers.
The man's control over his body was incredible and his power was tremendous and ferocious. He was as much a man as a tiger or other super-predator. Near the end...he evolved. He was still a man, but he was a little more than a man. He was a legend. On every street corner, a challenger was aware of what might be waiting
Bruce Lee got into a lot of fights, he always felt the need to prove his worth, prove his talent, prove his teachings and be at the top of his game. He always had to adapt, he always had to be alert, always concerned about his safety. It can't be easy. He was a fitness freak of the highest order, obsessing over his diet, drinking and training to the point of impracticality. He demanded so much from himself and his body that it ran like a racehorse on a track that, after all, seemed never-ending.
I'm not exactly sure what killed Bruce Lee in the end. He reacted badly to the medication, and I read that his brain was swollen. His death was not sudden, but it seems to have been quick and rather sudden. Did he push his body beyond human limits? Most likely. But what a man he was. What a life he led!
