A well-known crypto enthusiast, founder of MGT Capital Investments and presidential candidate John McAfee announced his escape from the country.
On Tuesday, January 22, McAfee posted a video in which he says that officials in the Tennessee court charged him with "using cryptocurrency for criminal purposes."
He added that his wife Janice and four other members of the team of his presidential campaign in 2020 were also charged with "criminal acts."
“I did not pay taxes for eight years and did not hide this,” said McAfee.
Apparently, the crypto-enthusiast organizes its headquarters right on the yacht, which floats in neutral waters, presumably, off the coast of Venezuela.
“They want to silence me, but I won't let them.” While I continue my campaign in exile, while on board, ”added McAfee.
Among other things, the presidential candidate said that for all the time he "paid tens of millions of taxes, but did not receive any returns ..". McAfee also has high hopes for cryptocurrency, suggesting a high degree of privacy. According to him, such means of payment can bypass the state.
“Cryptoactives free a person from the yoke of a currency controlled by the state,” he said.
Note, among the participants of the cryptoindustry, McAfee is often associated with one very bold prediction of the price of Bitcoin.
He also earlier expressed the opinion that the first cryptocurrency will one day become the “gold standard”.
