nice and amazing
Greater kudus in iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa

While the male greater kudu’s sheer size is impressive—he can top 600 pounds and stand over five feet tall—it’s those long, curling horns that really distinguish this African antelope from other ungulate herds. At the age of two, most greater kudu bulls sport a single twist in their horns, but by the time they reach their sixth birthday they generally have horns twisting two-and-a-half turns. Some champion horn growers can reach three twists.

These sharp-tipped horns look like they’d make great defensive weapons, but they’re only occasionally used to spar with other males of the species. Greater kudus instead use their impressive sight, hearing, and leaping abilities to evade predators.
