La Liga Gameweek 22 Preview Part Two

Sevilla - Girona

Sevilla did what they wanted, and qualified for the final in the Copa del Rey after beating Leganés 2-0 at home, at Wednesday. The awful result against Eibar at the weekend didn’t affect their performance, and they well deserved won and qualified for the final. In this game they will play one of the most surprising sides in this league this season, Girona. Girona under Pablo Machín have impressed a lot, and yet again, they won at home against Athletic Club last weekend.

Sevilla will in this game be without Corchia, Simon Kjær, Carrico, Arana, Banega (!) and Nolito, so some players will be missing for the home sides against a team without Alcalá, Maffeo, Douglas Luis and David Timor.

This game has the potential to be an entertaining one, but of course there is a chance Sevilla could be tired after Wednesday’s game. I have Sevilla as slight favorites considering their home record.

Barcelona - Getafe

Barcelona dropped points last weekend, but that wasn’t to much football to be honest. Here they could be back playing their lovely football at home, but won’t get it to easy against a Getafe-side very solid defensively this season. Both teams had a draw last weekend, but it will for sure just be Getafe that would be happy with another draw in this game.

Finally Ousmane Dembélé is back for Barcelona, so this could be his return to the show. Samuel Umtiti with suspension and Thomas Vermaelen will be the only players missing out with suspension and injury, but Denis Suárez and Andre Gomes has also been dropped for this game.

For Getafe the most important player out will be Markel Bergara with his injury. The most imporant ones will be there to try to get a point in a difficult place. However I can’t see Getafe taking any points here, and Barcelona will be too strong for me.

Celta Vigo - Espanyol

World Cup is coming, and Iago Aspas is maybe at his best ever. Another goal last weekend in the loss against Alavés after scoring a great consolation goal at the end of the game. Espanyol on the other side took a point from Barcelona in a comedy-game at home after Gerard Moreno scored the opener, before Gerard Piqué equalized at the end.

Despite the loss against Alavés last weekend, Celta have been in great form the recent weeks with three wins in a row before their loss. Espanyol then do not impress to much, and Celta will be considered favorites here. Pione Sisto, Iago Aspas and Maxi Gómez will create trouble for the Espanyol-defense, and when nobody is out, nothing will come easy for the away team in this game. Espanyol will neither have many players out, and Esteban Granero will be the only one out with suspension.

I really expect Celta to win this game and continue their great form. Iago Aspas is unplayable at the moment, and I can see he scoring the winner here.

Valencia - Levante

Out of Copa, five losses in a row, and a new injury on Garay. However Guedes is back again, same as Soler. Things are not that bad as it looks like. Here we will witness a Valencia-Derby with Levante at the bottom as expected, and Valencia fighting for Champions League-qualification. Levante did it against Real Madrid and got a point at the end of the game after a Pazzini-goal. In this game things will not be much easier, and will face a very different opponent.

Garay, Rodrigo and Andreas Pereira will be the players out with injury for Valencia, while Levante will miss Iván López, Alegria and their long-term injured goalkeeper Raúl Fernández.

Levante is not the easiest side to beat when they play away, but things has to turn around now for Valencia especially with Guedes and Soler back. I can’t see Levante make another «miracle» here, and I think Valencia will win this game. I am not to impressed by Levante despite their point against Los Blancos last weekend.

Deportivo - Real Betis

The final game of round 23 will probably be an entertaining one, with two teams better offensively than defensively. Deportivo had another horror defeat last Friday against Real Sociedad losing 5-0, while Real Betis had an important win against Villarreal at home.

In this game we will probably see end to end stuff and lots of entertainment. Clarence Seedorf have come in as Depor-manager, so it’s a little bit hard to predict how they will go into this game, but Betis under Quique Setién we have seen many times this season in entertaining games.

Pedro Mosquera and Sidnei will still be out for Depor after they got their injuries some weeks ago, while Real Betis still will be without Joel Campbell and Tony Sanabria who has been out for a long time now. Unfortunately Zouhair Feddal also got a bad injury in their game against Villarreal, so he will be missing in this game and out for the rest of the season.

It’s hard to pick a winner here, but I am sure we will see goals. Betis in pretty good form to win again?
