I want to tell you quickly something that happened to me when I returned from the Netherlands yesterday... This happened in just a couple of hours, and they were some of the most stressful of my life at an airport.
I confirmed my ticket a week before and downloaded my ticket from ¨Pase abordo¨ in PDF file to my cell phone, so when I arrived at the airport, I only had to deliver one suitcase in the hold. My flight to Bordeaux took off at 10:50 am. I arrived at Schiphol, Amsterdam airport 2 hours early, so I thought I was on time, but I had no idea what was going to happen.
I came to the EasyJet Airline attention line to line up to deliver a suitcase. I waited in a line of about 20 people, there were three airline employees serving at the time, but two of them took care of half a dozen Chinese passengers with very large suitcases open on the floor, who were also rearranging their contents. It seems that both employees were trying to solve problems for these passengers due to excess baggage.
Meanwhile, the other employee called one by one the other passengers in the long line where I was, so time passed and I began to worry. Suddenly, I heard a female voice asking passengers with the same destiny to place us in the fast line.
I ran to the other line, but when my turn came, he said to me,"Sorry, miss, your flight is closed, you have to go to the claims office. I couldn't believe it, and without being able to do anything arguing, I went to that office, my surprise was that there were more passengers like me waiting to solve the same problem. I queued up; and fortunately, after a few minutes I was in front of another representative of the airline, who took my boarding pass and my passport; I clicked several times and then told me to run to Gate M!
Then I ran like crazy to the M gate, but first I had to pass my suitcase through the normal police checkpoint; when I passed by, the policeman asked me to open the suitcase and take out my things, because they wanted to check a small can that they had given me with materials to repair the rubber on my bicycle. That took me a few important minutes, then the policeman told me that everything was fine and I could continue my journey.
I quickly threw everything I could into the suitcase and closed it, picked up my jacket and cell phone to keep on running to the M gate, at that moment I realized that I needed breakfast and besides how huge that airport is! I saw at 50 meters approximately the M and I already felt the fatigue of an Olympic race! Finally, I went downstairs when I was going to present my cell phone again with my boarding pass and my boarding pass, but I couldn't find the last one.
And I almost fainted! Believe me, I got sick right then and there! I quickly thought that maybe at the police checkpoint, I had forgotten it so once again I ran like crazy back for my passport. And you won't believe it, when I was halfway there, I saw him on the ground! I took it and ran again to the door M. When I arrived they were going to close it and I yelled at them in my espanglish: NO PLEASEASE!
Finally, I got on board, I had to sit in one of the emergency exits, so I had to open the door if needed, all right until when we arrive in Bordeaux, they start to feel terrible jolts! So I asked God: Really? After everything that happened to me? However, it was nothing more than a scare with an exciting landing with applause for the Captain.
