      Not quite sure what you are looking at but there are rock pools of sea water left behind from high tide and then the sea spray from the waves.

        yes...that is what I thought. but you wrote lava flows to the sea. I saw similar landscapre in Tortolla and Virgin Gorda and in Dominica. Other than they were very very lush islands. This photograph is stunning!!!
