Misty Morning in Vancouver

in landscapephotography •  7 years ago  (edited)

When I drove up to the viewpoint on Cypress Mountain I had no idea what I was about to see - fog rolling through Vancouver Harbour, obscuring bridges and boats. It was a sight to behold, and I was fortunate to arrive in time to for the golden hour glow.

My only regret is that I wasn't here an hour earlier when the lights were still on in the city!

I love how the bridge is sunken into the mist. Looking at the rather flat image section, I wouldn't have guessed that this photo is taken from a lookout but rather with a drone or from a TV-tower of some sort. Great shot!

Thanks! Yes, it's a lookout, but it's on the side of a mountain, so it offers a nice view.

What an awesome shot! 👏 Looks like a fairyland...

Thanks! I always love when I can photograph places in ways where they look surreal and otherworldly. :)

The end of the world

Or the beginning?

Wow! Nice.. I envy your ability to travel as much as I admire your photos.

I don't want anyone to be envious, there are always tradeoffs, but I have been lucky in that respect.

True, that's a good (and realistic) perspective.

Amazing. Extraordinary capture.

Thanks for commenting! :)

It looks incredible!

Thanks! :)

What a glorious sight! I love Vancouver, great photo!

Thank you, Keith! :)

Sweet shot! You've been resteemed by @photofeed

That's awesome, thank you @photofeed and @cryptoctopus! :D

I would love to see what it looks like with the lights on in the city, but this has a calmer look I imagine! Beautiful photograph!

Thank you! I wish I'd taken a long exposure at this moment to make it still more peaceful, but by the time I did the light had changed and the colour had gone.

The pink light bouncing off the buildings is gorgeous!

Thanks, Jake! That's what really made this shot for me. Another one from later, even though it was a long exposure to make the fog silky, just didn't feel the same without the pink light.

This looks awesome with the glowing mist! Didn't know Vancouver had such a nice skyline

It's not a bad city for photography - this was my first time there with a camera though, and I wasn't there long, so didn't explore a lot. It has lots of potential. :)

Wow, that is incredible! I love the colors and how you can just barely see the lions gate bride peeking out from the fog. I used to live right in the west end off of Denman street, oh memories :)

Oh, cool, @dexter-k! Did it get foggy like this often?

Wow that is surreal!! ☺️💛

It kinda was! Thanks. :)

Is this really the Earth? Looks like Heaven. Which, probably, is non-existent.

This is really the Earth, and perhaps it's just a poor model of what Heaven might turn out to be. :)

Beautiful @derekkind. Never been to Vancouver but it's on my list of places to go. Fantastic photography as always :)

Thanks, @oen, I hope you make it there some day. :)

Very nice!

Thank you! This was the fog I was telling you about before. :)

I wondered if it was.

Beautiful mate. Have a great weekend.

Cheers mate, the same to you! :)

Beautiful shot caught at the golden hour! Yes, it's tough now to get cities all lit up. Over 20 or so years ago, the buildings would have all been lit up, as people were not so energy conscious back then. One of my best selling cityscapes is an oldie, and I believe because of the lights!

Thanks, @dmcamera! Hard to say what the lighting would have been an hour earlier - I'll have to go back another time to find out!

It's always cool to take shots form the same spot at different times and dates. Look forward to seeing that!

Yes! It's nice to get to know a location.

Oh what a city. Beautifully captured.

Thank you! :)

Really nice snap here mate. Beautiful colours and the mist is giving a nice touch to it. keep up with your work. Upvoted and I'll be following you!!

Why thank you for the comment and the follow! Cheers! :)

wow what a photo!

Thanks! :D

Wow, Vancouver might be the prettiest city on the West Coast. Only other city I know that has similar viewpoints is San Francisco.

I haven't seen enough of them to make that determination, but I do love what the fog does in both Vancouver and San Fran. :)

Cool. Love the scene. I miss Vancouver. Beautiful city.

Thank you! :)

Wow. Absolutely Gorgeous. A beautifully captured shot of my city! Wish I made it to cypress during the fog! Nice work. Following and upvoted! Love to see landscapes from fellow Vancouverites!

Cheers!

Thank you for the follow and upvote, @joelbastian! :D I'm not from Vancouver, but I like it there, and I hear the fog is becoming more of a regular thing in October. :)

Ohh! My bad haha. Yeahhh just seems like every year now it gets thicker. Makes for good photo opportunities for sure.

Yes! Must be a pain to drive in though.

Marvellous colors & clouds!
