On my holiday trip last week we also visited the Großglockner, Austrias highest mountain. Our main goal was to take some picturs of marmots up there. But we also did a lot of landscape pictures of the mountain and the glacier there. The Pasterze is Austrias biggest Glacier but it is decreasing by about 50 meters a year, because of the warm weather and the global warming. At the moment it still has a lengh of about 8 kilometers and a volume of about 1,7 km³ of ice. As you can see the top of the glacier is covered with dirt. This dirt is from the environmental influence that humans created with industry and cars.

Yes you are true, the biggest problem is the dirt that covers the ice from the glaciers which even speeds up the process of melting the glacier.
