Last weekend my daugther and I went for a hike on our property.
We have a tremendous amount of rocks and boulders on our land.
They jut-up out of the ground in a seemingly random fashion. There is one area in the woods just up from our barn where there are a bunch of really large boulders.

We even found a rock with a tree growing out of it.
Elle' reconized it as mechanical erosion from her science class ;)
It is a fun area to have a quick hike, play around, and just hangout on a Saturday afternoon.
We talked about clearing out an area and setting up a campsite.
Maybe we will spend Sukkot here???
or over here??? Who knows?

Sukkot is our favorite too. I always take the whole week off of work and we camp in our pop-up. Much fun is had by all.

They do not appear to be glacial deposits. They are very random and show no signs of glaciation. They are mainly quartzite (very hard) with large clast of a fine grained rock probably granite. I believe they are erosional remnants. Probably flood related :)
