아프가니스탄의 봄(Spring of Afghanistan)

파미르 고원에서는 아프가니스탄을 좁은 강 너머로 볼 수 있습니다. 물 높이도 그다지 높지 않아서 이곳이 타지키스탄과 아프가니스탄의 국경이라는 것은 곳곳을 순찰하는 군인들을 만났을 때만 느낄 수 있지요. 너무나 평화로운 곳이어서 끔찍한 일들이 일어났던 곳이라고는 상상하기 어려웠어요. 그리고 이곳에서도 봄은 어김없이 찾아오고 있었습니다. 겨울 내내 얼었던 강이 녹고 아이들은 밖으로 나와 뛰어놀고 있었어요. 이곳에 진정한 봄이 찾아오기를 기도합니다.

In the Pamirs Plateau, you can see Afghanistan beyond a narrow river. The water height is not very high, so you can only feel here is the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan when you meet soldiers patrolling everywhere. It was so peaceful that it was hard to imagine that the terrible things had happened at here. And spring also was coming here without fail like another place. The river that had frozen all winter melted and the children were playing outside with me. I pray that a true spring will come here
