Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer beach

Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is famous for the annual festival, which takes place on 24 and 25 May. These days, the city is flooded with crowds of gypsies begging for help from their heavenly patron Saint Sara. The city is convenient as a base for acquaintance with the Camargue: it has many not expensive accommodations and restaurants.

This French place of Sainte-Marie-de-la-Mer is very charming, Its streets with white houses and a golden-gray Romanesque church and its strange line of battlements with a watchtower have become famous, so nice and picturesque these views.

There is a multi-kilometer beach, a pleasant port, where you can take walks on boats on the lagoons, bicycles and riding horses, conditions for all kinds of water sports, bullfighting arena (Arnes des Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer), riding walks and other entertainment (notifications about events are posted on a special board). On the terraces of restaurants and cafes, flamenco performers play the guitars. Great place to visit. We stayed at villa and just went here to swim. Beach is really great.
