Up Galatzo

Hello Stemians. My entry for today's #landscapephotography is "Up Galatzo"

Galatxo is the second highest mountain peak on the island of Mallorca.

Normally Galatzo has a cloud around the top but if you get it right, by going up on a clear day during winter the views are fantastic.

You start the walk just outside Puigpunyent a village in the west of the island. From here it is a one and a half hour steep walk, scramble and climb to get to the top. Be sure to take a few breaks along the way as some people feel a bit dizzy with the sudden elevation.

I have done this walk a few times and on this particular time when we got to the top it was still clear but saw clouds in the distance but did not realise how quickly they were coming in.

We spent about 20 minutes at the top, eating our sandwiches and relaxing a bit before the steep walk down. By the time we decided to head down a low cloud had come in and had to make our way through the cloud following the track all the way back to the car park.

This walk takes about 3 hours with an ascent / descent of 550 metres.
