There are two great strands on this part of the Mayo coast. Sliver Strand and White Strand. Both are beautiful beaches, although access to White Strand can be difficult when the Owennadornaun River is running high.
The mountain in the background is Mweelrea, the highest mountain in Connaught. Because the mountain is so close to the coast, the weather can change dramatically and quickly. However, on this evening, the setting sun nicely illuminated the cap of cloud gracing the mountain summit.
To the left, you can see the entrance to Doo Lough Valley. The far ridge is Barrclashcame, which is part of the Sheeffry Hills.
