Great Pollet Arch in Co. Donegal is a location that particularly rewards the aerial perspective. Long a favourite of landscape photographers, it's only a short hop down the coast from Fanad Head (see my previous post today). There are no signs directing the wanderer to this spot, though, and the arch itself is on private land.
The arch is most often photographed from the beach seen here just behind the stack and the views are generally looking out to sea. Taking to the air and looking in the other direction shows the arch in context.
On this morning, I was very lucky with the sunrise. The sun came up in a clear patch of sky, illuminating both the cloud and land with a wonderful golden glow.
It's rare for a photographer to appear in their own work. Look carefully at this photograph, though.
