Turkey Creek Palm Bay, Florida
The Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay, Florida offers a boardwalk trail through native Florida trees and wildlife habitat. You can see gators, manatees and Florida cooters. The creek is also passable by canoe or kayak.

great photo! I always wondered though, how safe is it to kayak when there are potential alligators in the water? Do they ever attack, and are they easy to fend off?

Gators usually aren't aggressive, except during mating season or when they are protecting their young. They typically stay away from humans except if they have been feed by humans then they lose their fear. It's illegal to feed them in Florida but people still do. They are opportunistic feeders and will attack pets and small children.

There's a wonderful boardwalk trail that goes through the sanctuary. So you never have to get close to anything dangerous. Going down the creek is a different story.
