Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe. This One Is For @Shadalene's #WaterWednesday Contest

Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe is one of the more popular spots on the lake for photographers, and for good reason. It has provided me with many great photo opportunities over the years. Sometimes there are tons of other photographers there and I move on down the shore to find a different, less crowded scene. Other times I get lucky and I'm the only one there. Sunrise is better for having less people in your shots, sunsets are usually better for capturing a vibrant sky as Bonsai Rock is on Tahoe's east shore, and you are looking out west at the rock. That doesn't mean, however, that you can't get a cool or colorful shot there at sunrise.

This is a stitched panoramic photo, shot on a Canon 5Dsr with a 16-35L lens set at 16mm, and a tripod was used. The ISO was 50, the aperture was f9, and each of the stitched photos were 10 seconds long. A Lee polarizing filter and 2 graduated neutral density filters were used on the front of the lens. I highly recommend trying a polarizing filter whenever shooting Lake Tahoe's incredible east shore in order to best capture the amazing greens, aquas, and blues.

This photo works for @Shadalene's #waterwednesday photo contest because of the lake obviously, but also because it was lightly raining and I had to wipe the drops off of the front lens filter off between each of the stitched images.
