DYI Landscaping With Stones - July 4th-6th

IMG_2764.JPGRebuilt the entire arching stone wall on both driveway islands.

4 Cubic Yards of 1/2 inch mulch stones and 1 full 7 foot tall pallet of Pocono Mountain rocks, consisting of gneiss, shales, slate, sandstone and mudstones. Multiple projects around the property needed done.

IMG_2766.JPG Pumpkin and Squash plants will enjoy their soil moisture container, I.e., the rocks

These rocks are a great mositure container for the soil below. Not even an inch below the exposed surface of rocks, does moisture remain, long after the rains have moved on. My plants will enjoy them I believe.

IMG_2767.JPG Built this large rock wall on a sloping dirt hillside behind the pool, to prevent further soil erosion away from the pools surrounding pavement.

I think it will serve its purpose well. I had to get in there and dig a "trench", level with gravity, so that I could then lay the larger stone on top the dirt to form a retaining wall and then pile the 1/2 inch red stones in to fill it up as best as possible. The wall feels very stable and can be stood on with ease. I wonder how long this will last.

IMG_2736.JPG Built an arching stone wall for the flagpole

Again, to prevent the flagpole base from becoming exposed due to heavy rains. I think I did a decent job! Simple, yet aesthetically pleasing.

Now I can rest easy.
