  • Being Bilingual teaches your brain to switch from tasks at a high speed, this is because of the fact that you are able to switch between languages, like if someone was to tell you to translate from English to your 2nd language, you'd be able to do it within milliseconds!!!

  • Being able to speak more than 1 language gives you a great advantage when searching for a job, as you have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people!

  • It makes you a more sociable person as it gives you good communication skills, it allows you to meet new people and enjoy different hobbies and activities with different people!

  • Being able to speak more than 1 language allows you to learn a new language a lot easier, as most languages have links in words and the sound of the word, sometimes even the spelling, my cousin for example is busy leaning to speak Japanese, and at the moment he can only speak English, whereas someone that can speak Mandarin... Would probably learn a lot faster than him!

  • When traveling... Being Bilingual can allow you to communicate with the people from that specific area or place.

Yes, while learning another language can sometimes be quite challenging, I highly recommend for you to learn a second language, and if you already know more than 1, keep the list growing and getting longer, it will benefit you greatly!

Learning a new language in the times of Now can actually be quite easy and easily accessible, as there are 1000's of different ways to learn, only on technology, and lets be honest, if you are reading this... you have complete access to technology!!

I agree. I have been bilingual from the day I started to speak, and now I speak 3 languages fluently. What I would like to know is which languages are the most beneficial to learn (now and in the future) and why.

i think its amazing that you speak three languages. Do you speak Spanish? Spanish is very beneficial you will be paid more for knowing the language here in the States. Do you speak French?

I speak english, finnish and swedish. I live in Finland, and its a bilingual country (finnish/swedish). It´s a shame that one does not have much use for the finnish language outside the borders of Finland, considering how hard it is to learn. Swedish is not much better in that sense. I dont speak french, but I know some words :) I´m actually trying to learn spanish now. I started with a mobile app http://www.worddive.com

which app are you using , maybe we should practice with one another...

Spanish is such a beautiful language to me, i feel my romance poor out when i speak it. lol ...

Yep. I chose spanish too, just because I think it sounds nice. I use worddive http://www.worddive.com

So I read somewhere that the most beneficial languages depends on your area, but in my opinion it would probably be English and maybe even Mandarin!

True. where you are is probably an important factor :)

Here in America, Spanish is a major plus on the resume... but I want to learn because I get so board speaking English all the time...its just so blan...Spanish has such a rhythmic sound to the pronunciation of the words....

I have tried to learn Spanish and I can't get past the verbs..lol.. I think it is very cool to know two languages. When I was in Italy for school, the summer of 2015..Everyone I met knew at least three different languages..they were so happy ...

THAT'S CRAZY!!! I cannot imagine how much effort that took to accomplish!!

Bilingualism is the in-thing now because it stimulates your brain and helps to be proficient in the use of the languages and opportunities abound if one is bilingual. It is good to be bilingual although i am a multilingual

Really? How many languages can you speak? And what are those languages?

I speak English, Yoruba(mother tongue) and French

Interesting!!!

I have actually never heard of Yoruba?
