Hi Guys

One of my biggest hobbies is to learn languages, i speak 9 languages in total but in different levels not all of them are fluent

Spanish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese and Romanian they are the languages i'm learning except Somali, Danish and English.

How i started learning Spanish

i first started learning Spanish because of 2 Spanish friends at university, after hearing them speak to each other i thought daaaayym i want to be able to speak Spanish the way they speak it so cool and fast like a machine gun xD. after 2 days of just learning 4 words "Que Tal hermano, Tio" = "whats up brother, bro" i went to meet one of my Spanish friends and greeted him with what i learned, he just looked at me with a blank expression and responded with "nothing much, now lets go play football" to be honest i was in shock like how did you not notice me speak in Spanish dam it, anyway i continued to learn for 3 years.

How i started learning Italian

While learning Spanish and going to meetups and events to make more native friends i noticed for every 1 Spanish friend i made they always introduced me 3 Italian friends that they had, i ended up hanging out with more Italians then Spanish friends xD and they always speak in Italian thinking i could understand them with my intermediate Spanish, in the end i gave up and started learning Italian, if you cant beat them join them right? lol

How i started learning French and German

At my university i always spent a lot of my time in the library even on a weekend ( lol i know i have no life xD) trying to finish my work before everyone else and get that extra mark, in the library of my second year of university i would always hear a group of french students always laughing and talking so much so that i feel like laughing with them even if i don't understand a word of french. at the end of year 2 and before going in to year 3 i spent all my 3 month holiday on learning french with Rosetta stone and German came with it as a promotion. i started memorizing 30 words a day and listening to the radio for 30min a day hoping that when i get back to the library i would finally be able to understand what they have been laughing about for the whole of year 2 xD and possibly join in on the fun, at the end of summer holiday and getting back to university i noticed that all the french people that i remember from the library in year 2 was gone, vanished like a Somali hairline, at that point i already spent 3 month learning french so i continued to learn along side German. in the end i never found out what that 1 year joke was about.

How i started learning Portuguese and Romanian

i started learning Portuguese because it would be the easiest language to start learning since i can already understand some words and thanks to Spanish Italian and French i can pick it up faster then i would with Arabic or Japanese. i added Romanian since its also part of the same language family. i gave my self a 30 day challenge to see how much i could learn and what i could say and talk about after just 30 days of learning, i recorded all 30 days and posted it on YouTube my YouTube channel is (Somali Polyglot) if you want to check it out
