Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Release Date: Feb 15

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4

I have some serious concerns about this game, but I do love the concept. It's like Skyrim or The Witcher 3 but set in a realistic Medieval open-world. I love the idea of an expansive Medieval RPG but recent footage of wooden dialogue and less-than-stellar facial animations has me concerned that this is releasing too soon. Don't be surprised if it's delayed.

Secret Of Mana Remake

Release Date: Feb 15

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS Vita

Moss

Release Date: Feb 27th

Platforms: PS VR

I'm not a huge fan of VR games. They still feel mostly gimmicky. But Moss, the story of a little mouse on a big adventure, looks incredibly charming. It's one of those games I see and think "Why can't this be just a regular game rather than a VR game?" But I'm crossing my fingers that it will pleasantly surprise us.

We Happy Few

Release Date: Apr 13

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4

One of the more intriguing, zany looking games of 2018, We Happy Few is a survival-based game set in a dystopian fictional 1960s English town called Wellington Wells where everybody is constantly high on a hallucinogenic drug called Joy. It looks a bit like A Clockwork Orange meets Brazil and while its Early Access reviews are mixed on Steam, I'm hoping the final release will be fantastic. It certainly looks like nothing else coming out this year.

Wargroove

Release Date: TBA 2018

Platforms: PC, Switch, Xbox One

Inspired by games like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, Wargroove is a cool-looking turn-based tactical game from Chucklefish (Stardew Valley) that looks absolutely fantastic. Play solo or against friends, create your own battlefields, and enjoy the high-resolution pixel art. I'm really excited for this one. The world always needs more turn-based war games. There will never be enough.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Release Date: 26 October 2018

Platforms: Xbox One, PS4

At long last, Red Dead Redemption is getting a sequel. It's set to release in early 2018, but could very well be delayed. The GTA of the Wild West, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first game. Horseback riding, gun fights, cowboys and Indians, cattle thieves, bandits, train robberies, rattlesnakes, cannibals, lassoing harlots, revenge, and probably a big GTA Online-like multiplayer mode all lie in store for eager Rockstar fans. The only real question is if any other game in 2018 will sell as many copies.https_%2F%2Fblogs-images.forbes.com%2Ferikkain%2Ffiles%2F2018%2F01%2Fupcoming-games-1.jpg

State Of Decay 2

Release Date: 22 May 2018

Platforms: PC, Xbox One

The original State of Decay launched way back in 2013 and sold 4.5 million copies. The sequel looks much prettier, has three-player co-op and was supposed to release in 2017. The game is part survival, part settlement building, and very open-ended. You can even control more than just one hero, and are able to pick and choose which character in your group you want to play at any given time. Tough choices, deadly zombies and lots of player agency all make this sound pretty exciting.
