Kagura Actress Draws Teaser Visual for "Gintama" Web Drama Sequel

As with last year, NTT DoCoMo's online video streaming service dTV is ready to offer an original web drama based on Hideaki Sorachi's action comedy manga series Gintama this summer. In addition to Gintoki Sakata and the Sinsengumi members who were featured in the first, the main heroine Kagura is confirmed to also appear in the sequel drama for the first time. The feature film's director Yuichi Fukuda again works on the web drama as director/writer. 

 

19-year-old actress Kanna Hashimoto, who has played the character in the live-action series since 2017, posted a teaser visual for the sequel drawn by herself during the shooting. Details of its story and episode count have not yet been revealed.

The three-episode first web drama based on the "Mitsuba Arc" in the manga started streaming on the

service on July 15, 2017, one day after the theatrical release of the Gintama feature film in Japan. On

its first day, the drama drew the largest viewers in the history of the streaming service, then its first

episode was played two million times on YouTube in three days.

 

In addition to 26-year-old fashion model/actress Kie Kitano as Sougo Okita's older sister Mistuba,

the web drama featured the same cast members as the feature film, including Shun Oguri as Gintoki

Sakata and the three main members of Shinsengumi: Kankuro Nakamura IV as Isao Kondo, Yuuya

Yagira as Toshiro Hijikata, and Ryo Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita.
