US Ambassador to Dhaka Marsha Steffens Bloom Barnikot handed over the letter sent by Trump to the Prime Minister on Thursday (03 May) on a courtesy call.
In the letter, Trump told the Prime Minister that the United States will continue to pressurize Myanmar to create the necessary conditions so that Rohingyas can return safely to their motherland.
Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters on the matter.
The United States president said in the letter, there is no question that there must be a reply to Myanmar in order to create this crisis (the Rohingya crisis).
Trampe lauded the humanitarian leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in dealing with the Rohingya crisis, said the United States is deeply grateful to the Bangladesh government for responding to humanitarian response to the Rohingya crisis.
'A big burden of sheltering more than a million Rohingya refugees. But the world knows that thousands of lives have survived because of such activities of Bangladesh. Our international partner is promising to provide all types of cooperation from Bangladesh.
Trump said, I hope Bangladesh will continue to lead the Rohingya crisis ahead of the world, especially in the monsoon season challenges.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked Trump for giving the assurance of staying beside Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated her call to the international community including the United States to continue to pressurize Myanmar to take back the deported Rohingya nationals to their motherland.
Sheikh Hasina said the government is preparing the Bhaneshar Islands to provide temporary shelter to one lakh Rohingya refugees. The local people are suffering due to the arrival of a large number of Rohingya refugees and the environment is affected.
The US Ambassador said the UN refugees will be suffering from the Rohingya refugees and they are cooperating with USAID.
Bernecott told Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that USAID President Mark Green and Chief Executive Officer Carter Center and former ambassador to India, Anne Peters, will visit Bangladesh soon to see the tragedy of Rohingya people fleeing in Bangladesh.
The US delegation appreciated the development and empowerment of women under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and congratulated the Prime Minister on receiving the Global Women's Leadership Award -2018.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said after the independence, the foundation stone of women empowerment in Bangladesh has been established and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has established the foundation for empowerment in Bangladesh. The current government is also working in that continuation.
