What is True? ~ Philosophy, Religion, Science

A nice guide on how to discern what is true is at the bottom. Click Here

This was a reply to a post in philosophy which used a straw man approach being built on making false claims which they can then easily refute.  They argue their own understanding.  Straw men are not accepted as viable arguments.

The post claimed:

"Supernatural figurehead that [is] separate from all of humanity and nature"
Just the opposite. The official claim is: God both is and in all [real] things.

"that created everything with a snap of a finger"
The official claim is: God's Word and Spirit being manifest were the foundations followed by many divisions creating the diversity. Instantaneous is possibly a false innuendo.

"they personified God has without ever seen him."
The official claim is: God is manifest and knowable.

"They also assume that it is a male and masculine deity."
This is an analogy as the male denotes the seed which the soil or egg is barren without.

"Most of these religions tell women to be submissive"
Correct in -not- stating 'all' religions as submission denotes bondage and slavery. Where as eastern religions (such a Buddhism) and Christianity teach the why's and how's of freedom, not slavery.

"cover their hair and that their body is a temptation to man"
The practice of covering their hair comes from the story of tempting fallen angels (not man) which was practiced by many religions besides the ones you list. Covering their body is from the story of the Garden and applies to both man and woman gaining knowledge of their condition (not temptation).

"we are naturally born sinful"
Again from the story of the Garden and the tree of knowledge. We are all born naive and prone to error.

"they do not include femininity into the divine nature of God and creation"
Again the story of the Garden where man was made from dust and divine life was breathed into him where woman was taken from man and already possessing the divine nature. God did not need to breath life into Eve.

"They consider women to be inferior and second-class."
Exclude Christianity from this claim. There is one verse when correctly translated says "that woman", not all women. Even in Judaism women were priests, heirs and even saviors.

"religions have been created and altered to satisfy the political agenda"
Altered yes as the Bible itself points out as false religions and clarifies: "pure and undefined religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." (Noting the absence of worship and obeying laws). Also repeated in the golden rule of do unto others..

"very creative authors and writers and Poets installed and instilled these very beautiful images and ideas around these laws and around these stories to make it seem appealing and attractive and spiritually eloquent and refined."
The Bible states: "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men" "why do you subject yourselves to regulations “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle" These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value [lacks power] against the indulgence of the flesh."

"There are over 4,000 religions on the planet and the Muslims in the Christians in the Jews in the Hindus in the Buddhist all swear that they are correct and right and flawless and the moral compass for Humanity"

__________________ Knowing What's True _____________________

Don't believe what others say. We recognize truths when we hear them. We believe ourselves.

Inspiration is the revealing to your mind what you already know is true. Like looking for the queen of hearts in a deck, it comes by recognition and confirmation, not reason and persuasion. Similarly inspiration does not come from trying to solve a problem but in finding the perspective that reveals a truth that you recognize. Seeing the problem in the right light. Or in re-framing a question that it suddenly answers itself.

"That's it!  Of course, it's so obvious now.  Why couldn't I see it before?"

Because we were not looking at the problem correctly and the answer remained hidden.

For instance you mention "judgement" so I ask you if this is true: love, joy, peace, mercy, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, truthfulness.  Against these desires there are no divine, legal, or social laws. Who objects? If these are your desires; are you not then free to do as you desire.

But if you desire to be deceitful, superior, angry.. even our friends will object to being on the receiving end. These desires are not free to do as they want.

  • "All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits"
  • "For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have."
  • "I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh."
  • "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow"

Who are you listening to for truth, me or yourself?
