What does it mean to be a Leader?

I was asked by a friend what it means to be a leader and my response was, "To lead. To show people the way." Well, he said, "No... To be a leader means to Serve your people." 

So in other words, to be a leader is to "do it with your people", is what I'd like to call it...  Don't give instructions! Do it with your people, show them and join them! Now that's a LEADER.
