Assuming the counsellor knows God that he knows his own weaknesses and has submitted them to the Lord, and that he is seeking to counsel for the sake of others and for the glory of God and not for his own ends, here are some other characteristics he should possess to make a go of it. He should:

-- Be able to accept criticism.
-- Not be given to prejudice (racial, religious, social).
-- Not be subject to moods of depression.
-- Have a sense of humour ( ability to laugh at himself).
-- Not be given to over-optimism.
-- Not be given to pessimism.
