HERE IS THE FIRST THING TO DO AS A LEADER: GATHER YOUR OWN TEAM
"David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men." 1 Samuel 22:1,2
there are a lot of PEOPLE out there, potential leasers that have the vision of impacting lives but dont know how to start. They wonder how to own gathering of people to bless their lives. Evangelist looking for evangelism teams, singers looking for choral groups and others, soccer stars who nees to create a team etc. That is why I am here to coach you through the process of starting small and ending big
Leader! gather your army. Gather your mighty men. Dont wait for the ready made. They are not yours. Gather your own army. Teach them. Train them. And make them mighty. The success of any king or leader lies in the ability of his supporting army of trained warriors to overcome his enemies. Take a look at the army of men who gathered around David prior to the time he was made king over Israel in place of Saul.
Considering our text, David was chased out of his throne by his son. He departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him. When David went into the cave, every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them.
Look at David a king, notice the calibre of people he started with. And since he was there for them amidst their unprofessionalism. The number grew rapidly and there were with him about four hundred men. Leader start from where you are even if its a cave. There are people around you that are potential evangelists, singers, actors, writer but they are as discontented depressed appearing useless. Dont let them go gather them as mighty men.
Notice that at the beginning, as David was fleeing for his life from King Saul, a rather pitiful and unpromising company began following him, and they became the nucleus of what would soon be his army. Others joined them, and David trained them, "for at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God" (1 Chronicles 12:22).
Soon they were no longer discontented misfits, but a remarkable array of "mighty men" ( v. 21). One group, for example, was said to be "men of war fit for the battle, . . . whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains" (1 Chronicles 12:8 )
The number one law of leadership is INFLUENCE. And until your vision, zeal and passion can influence another person. You wont have followers. Show me a man without influence and I will show u a man walking towards destiny alone.
You might say do I really need to create my own Army. I can make it alone of course you can but an old proverb says if you want to walk fast walk alone but if you want to walk far walk with people.
The journey of ministering gospel is far and needs people.
