The native olive, whose botanical name is olea paniculata, is a member of the olea genus and a close relative of the olive.
It is native to Pakistan and southwestern China, through tropical Asia to Australia and the islands of the Pacific.
Native olive grows as a bushy tree up to 30 m tall and often has a sparse canopy.
The leaves are glossy green, ovate to elliptic, and pointed at the tip (acuminate).
