The fishbone fern, whose botanical name is nephrolepis cordifolia, is a fern native to the global tropics, including northeastern Australia and Asia.
It also has many common names including tuberous sword fern, tuber ladder fern, erect sword fern, narrow sword fern and ladder fern, or herringbone fern, and is an evergreen fern that grows between 40 and 80 centimeters.
The leaves have leaflets that are entire, sessile and elongated-lanceolate.
