Japanese photinia, whose scientific name is photinia glabra, is a small evergreen tree in the rose family.

It is a well-branched, densely leafy evergreen forest shrub.

In Japan, it is called kanamochi, and grows wild in warm mountains.

The Japanese name kanamochi is said to come from its similarity to the Japanese mochinoki, and was used as a fan key.
