The maidenhair tree, scientific name ginkgo biloba, is a tree species native to China.
Also called ginkgo or gingko, it is a dioecious plant with male and female trees.
The leaves are unique. That is, they are fan-shaped with veins radiating toward the leaf blade and sometimes splitting.
The internodes are short, so the leaves appear clustered at the tips of the short shoots.
