Cascade barberry, whose botanical name is mahonia nervosa, is a flowering plant native to the northwest coast of North America.
The leaves are opposite arranged compound leaves with as many as 9 to 19 strands. Each leaflet is strongly toothed and slightly shiny.
The leaflets have not one central vein, but several veins arranged in a fan-like pattern and branched from the base.
The underside of the leaf shows the opposite arrangement of the stem with three to eight veins.
Cascade barberry leaves are often used in floral arrangements.
