The bamboo-leaf oak tree, whose botanical name is quercus myrsinifolia, is an Asian tree species belonging to the subgenus of ring-cupped oak trees in the fagaceae family.
It is also called by several other names, including Chinese evergreen oak and Chinese ring-cupped oak, and is an evergreen oak that grows up to 20 meters.
This tree is native to eastern, central, and southeastern China, Japan, Korea, Laos, northern Thailand, and Vietnam.
In China it is called xiǎo yè qīng gāng, meaning small-leaved oak, in Japan it is called white oak (shirakashi), and in Korea it is called gasinamu.
