This plant is native to China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, the Himalayan region of India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Although native to Asia, it is commonly grown elsewhere as an ornamental garden.
Sweet viburnum can grow up to 9 meters and has glossy oval leaves that reach 20 cm in length.
In spring, it produces clusters of fragrant white flowers in the shape of pyramids, followed by red berries that ripen to black.
