Flowering dogwood, scientific name cornus florida, is a species of flowering tree in the family cornaceae, native to eastern North America and northern Mexico.
It is a small deciduous tree with a height of 10 m and a trunk diameter of 30 cm.
The leaves are simple, opposite, ovate with seemingly whole margins, 6-13 cm long and 4-6 cm wide.
They turn a rich reddish-brown color in the fall, and dead leaves should be trimmed and removed regularly.
