Primulina is a genus of flowering plants that are manifestations of the African violet family, Gesneriaceae.
In 2011, many species previously placed in the genus Chirita were removed, and added to the genus Primulina that was expanded.
Chirita is an Old World genus of flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae, native to India and Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and southern China.
Most species have showy tubular flowers with five leaf-like petals (usually round).
This genus, like its cousin African violet, is becoming increasingly popular as a houseplant for temperate climates.
